Newbery helped Ripon's men's swim team finish sixth out of the nine competing teams at the 2015 MWC Championships over the weekend, breaking two school records in the process. He became a conference champion in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.15, after swimming a pool and school-record time of 21.10 in the prelims. Newbery also broke Ripon's nine-year-old 200 freestyle record with a time of 1:45.97, as the lead leg of the Red Hawks' fifth-place 800 freestyle relay team. He was also a part of Ripon's third-place 200 medley (1:40.86) and fifth-place 400 freestyle (3:21.41) relays. Newbery added a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 47.53, which was 0.17 seconds shy of the first-place time and 0.21 short of his own school record.
