Competing at Saturday's Carroll Invite, Schmitz raced her first 200m of the outdoor season and was less than 0.5 seconds from the victory as she finished in 27.34 seconds for second place. She also placed fifth in the 400m with a time of 63.08 seconds, while running a leg on Ripon's third-place 4x100 relay (50.72).
