Leading the charge for Ripon at Saturday's Tom Barry Invitational, hosted by St. Norbert, was junior Madie King as she started her 2019 campaign in a big way. She raced out to the lead pack from the start and never looked back, as she turned in a new cross country 5000m PR in the process with a time of 19:40 to place fourth overall. That is the highest finish by a Red Hawk at the meet since Michelle Matter placed third in 2012. King's time is an improvement by 1:14 from her 2018 season opener and ranks seventh all-time at Ripon for the 5k distance.
