Doug Ankerson was a two-sport student-athlete with major contributions on both the tennis and basketball courts at Ripon College. In tennis, Doug was Midwest Conference champion in number two singles in 1964 when Ripon captured the conference team title. He returned to the championship to win the number one singles title in 1965. In basketball, Doug was a starter during the 1963-64 season and a key role player in Ripon’s Midwest Conference championship the following season. He received All-Conference Honorable Mention honors for basketball in 1966 and received the Samuel N. Pickard Award for athletic ability, scholarship, character and College loyalty that spring. Doug also served as president of the Ripon “R” Club.
