One of the first Ripon College athletes to compete at the national level, Earl "Blacky" Zamzow placed ninth in the 1950 AAU National Decathalon Championships. At Ripon, his 350 career points in track established a seemingly unbeatable record and he was twice honored as an All-Midwest Conference lineman in football.
