Jeffrey Johnson “rewrote the Ripon record books for quarterbacks” during his four years on the gridiron. Johnson led the squad in rushing during his junior and senior years, threw more touchdown passes (31) and accumulated more total yards (5,413) than anyone in Ripon’s history to that point. In his senior year, he helped his team win the 1977 Midwest Conference football title. In addition to his letters in football, Johnson earned four in baseball, playing center field and hitting six home runs in 1978. An honor student in economics, Johnson received the Harmon-Rice Trophy, a national award given by Phi Delta Theta to one of its members who exemplifies excellence in athletics, scholarship and campus and fraternity activities.
