Winner of All-American honors in two consecutive years, Mike Van Boxel is the first Ripon College student-athlete to win an individual national championship. As a junior in 1974, Van Boxel won the NCAA Division-III wrestling championship in his 167-pound weight class, finishing the season with a 27-2 record. During his senior year, Van Boxel also competed at Nationals, again winning All-American honors by finishing fifth in the nation. Van Boxel’s career score was 58-5. Also a determined competitor on the football field, Van Boxel achieved All-Conference honors as a defensive back in his sole year of play as a senior.
