Ripon And St. Norbert Play To A Tie

Box Score

DePERE, Wis. -
Despite getting outshot 35-5 Tuesday night, the Ripon and St. Norbert played to a 1-1 tie after two overtimes. St. Norbert held an 11-1 shot advantage in the overtime periods.

Neither team managed a goal in the game until Ripon's Amy Reuling scored for the first time this season less than two minutes into the second half on Alex Jirik's fifth assist of the year. The Red Hawks (9-5-2, 3-4-1 MWC) would hold that lead for six and a half minutes until St. Norbert's Katie Vanden Avond netted her league-leading 25th goal of the season on a Penalty Kick to tie the score at one, which is how the game would end after two overtimes.

Ripon Goal Keeper Sidney Blodgett recorded a career-high 15 saves while playing all 110 minutes. Her counterpart, Sarah Platzer also played the entire game for St. Norbert (10-3-3, 5-1-2 MWC), without recording a save.

The Red Hawks will try to extend their streak of games without a loss to six on Saturday when they'll travel to Cornell College. That game will begin at 11 a.m. in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
