GRINNELL, Iowa - Less than three full years into her Red Hawk career, junior
Brandi Peltier is the all-time leading goal scorer in Ripon College history. She accomplished that feat Saturday afternoon, recording her 63rd career goal, which was also the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over conference-leading Grinnell College. That breaks the previous school record of 62 career goals, which was set by Tami Mertins (1994-97).
Peltier's historic goal came unassisted in the 57th minute, giving her 18 goals on the season, which ranks second in the Midwest Conference and is the fourth highest single season total in school history. From there, Ripon (8-5-1, 4-2-1 MWC) displayed a tremendous defensive effort to secure the shutout victory.
Ripon Goal Keeper
Sidney Blodgett notched her fifth shutout of the season, which ranks second in the MWC, as she made eight saves in her 90 minutes of work. Grinnell (9-5-1, 5-2-1 MWC) also saw their Goal Keeper, Jordan Young, play the entire game, saving five shots on the day.
The loss drops Grinnell into third place in the MWC standings, while Ripon moves to fifth place in the conference, just one-half game out of the fourth the fourth and final spot for the MWC Tournament with three games still to play. The Red Hawks will be in action again on Wednesday at Lawrence University in a game that is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
