Red Hawks Drop Game To Lawrence By A Single Goal

The Ripon women's soccer team allowed just one goal Wednesday afternoon, but that was enough to suffer a loss, as the Red Hawks fell at Lawrence by a score of 1-0. Ripon outshot the Vikings 23-11 in the game, including 11-4 in the first half.

The lone goal of the contest came in the second half, during the 70th minute, when Keli Muchowski scored on an assist by Casey Merkle to give Lawrence the only lead of the game.

Ripon (8-6-1, 4-3-1 MWC) received a great defensive effort on the day, led by Goal Keeper Sidney Blodgett, who saved seven shots in her 90 minutes of work. Dani Glass saved 10 shots for Lawrence (5-7-1, 3-3-1 MWC), while also playing the entire game.

The Red Hawks will now step outside conference play on Sunday when they'll take on Cardinal Stritch University. That game will begin at 3 p.m. at Prairie Field and can be seen live on http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/ripon.portal#.
