RIPON, Wis. - Lake Forest jumped out to an early 3-0 lead Saturday afternoon, but Ripon stormed back to tie the game in the second half. That tie wouldn't last long, as the Foresters knocked in the final two goals of the day to defeat the Red Hawks, 5-3.
The game did not get off to a good start for the Red Hawks (6-5-0, 2-2-0 MWC), as Lake Forest's first goal of the game came on an Own Goal in the ninth minute. Holly Lesperance then gave the Foresters (8-3-0, 3-1-0 MWC) a 3-0 lead with a pair of goals that were seperated by seven minutes, both of which were assisted by Michelle Greeneway.
Brandi Peltier then got Ripon on the board in the 36th minute when she scored her 13th goal of the season on a Penalty Kick, cutting LFC's lead to 3-1 as the teams went to halftime.
In the second half, the Red Hawks grabbed the momentum.
Alyssa Kennedy converted a header in the 63rd minute on assists by
Mikayla Huesman and
Danielle Gieschen to cut the Foresters' lead to one. Peltier then added her second goal of the game in the 69th minute on an assist from Huesman. That gives Peltier 59 career goals, which is just three shy of Ripon's career record.
That lead didn't last long, as Greeneway scored two minutes later to give Lake Forest a 4-3 advantage. Lesperance added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute, to complete the hat trick and send the Foresters home with a victory.

Sidney Blodgett played all 90 minutes, making 13 saves, while Lake Forest's Rachel Tenuta also played the entire game, saving nine shots.
The Red Hawks won't have much time to dwell on the loss, as they'll be back in action again on Sunday against Beloit College. That game is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Prairie Field in Ripon and can be seen live on
