Box Score vs. University of Dubuque
WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Ripon women's tennis team suffered its first two losses of the 2013 season Saturday afternoon, losing to Carroll University 9-0, before falling to University of Dubuque by a score of 7-2.
In their first conference match of the season against Carroll, freshman Madeline VandenHouten put up the biggest fight for the Red Hawks (1-2), as she lost in three sets, 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (7-5) at the number two singles flight. VandenHouten also teamed up with senior Elizabeth Ake at number one doubles, with that duo falling, 8-5.
In the second match of the day, Ripon's two team points came from Ake and VandenHouten, who won at number one and two singles, respectively. Ake won her match by a score of 3-6, 7-6, 1-0 (11-9), while VandenHouten had a little easier time, winning 6-1, 6-2.
The Red Hawks will try to get back in the win column on Thursday against Lakeland College. That match will begin at 5 p.m. in Kohler, Wis.
