RIPON, Wis. - Playing their final game of the 2014 season, Ripon's men's soccer team lost Saturday, 5-0, to Grinnell College. The Red Hawks managed just three shots on the day, while Grinnell recorded 29 shots.
Grinnell (9-3-5, 5-2-3 MWC) broke a scoreless tie in the 13th minute when Antonio Dimarco netted his third goal of the season on an assist from Lukas Eng. That's where the score would remain until the final four minutes of the first half, which saw the Pioneers score two goals in a matter of two and a half minutes, with Elliot Meyer and Joseph Brown doing the honors.
Brown added his second goal of the game, and team-leading eighth of the season early in the second half. Michael Hurley capped the scoring in the 75th minute on a Free Kick from about 30 yards away.
Cody Messerschmidt played all 90 minutes at Goal Keeper for the Red Hawks (2-15-1, 0-10-0 MWC), making 12 saves.
