Box Score RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday afternoon. The Red Hawks fell to Marian University by a score of 2-1, despite outshooting the Sabres 19-10.
Marian (1-2) got on the board first on a Kelly Kulinski goal, assisted by Brittany Syms, in the 35th minute. Neither team scored again until the second half when the Sabres went up by two goals when Kayla Bernardi scored unassisted. Ripon (1-1) broke into the scoring column in the 77th minute on
Brandi Peltier's third goal of the season, a header on an assist from
Paige Birschbach. The Red Hawks had a few opportunities to tie the score in the final 12 minutes, but couldn't find the back of the net the rest of the day.
Marian's Caitlyn Rosenberger saved 10 shots in the game, while playing all 90 minutes in goal, while
Sidney Blodgett made five saves in her 90 minutes of action.
The Red Hawks will try to get back on the winning track on Saturday against Maranatha Baptist. That game will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Prairie Field in Ripon.
