Box Score LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Ripon's women's soccer team opened their conference season Saturday morning with a 6-1 loss at Lake Forest, as they were outshot for the first time all season (20-9). All seven goals in the game were scored in the game's first 26 minutes.
Things started out very well for the Red Hawks (4-3, 0-1 MWC), as they took the lead just a minute and a half into the first half on
Brandi Peltier's eighth goal of the season, as
Paige Birschbach recorded her conference-leading eighth assist on the play. That lead lasted just three minutes, with Lake Forest getting on the board on Michele Giurovici's first goal of the year. Five minutes later, Lake Forest (8-0, 1-0 MWC) took their first lead of the contest on a goal by Kayla Wuest. Just 20 seconds later, they found the back of the net again on Sam Hillis' first of the season. Nina Perkkio, Holly Lesperance each added goals for the Foresters, while Michelle Greenway capped the scoring with her conference-leading 11th goal of the season.
The Red Hawks will try to rebound on Sunday when they'll travel to Beloit College. That game will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Beloit, Wis.
