Box Score BELOIT, Wis. - One day after losing their conference-opening game, the Ripon women's soccer team responded in a big way, defeating Beloit College 9-0 Sunday afternoon. The Red Hawks scored just two of their goals in the first half, but added seven in the second half, while outshooting the Buccaneers 28-2 in the game. The nine goals are the most Ripon has scored in a game since the 2012 season and is tied for seventh in school history.
Ripon (5-3, 1-1 MWC) got on the board five minutes into the contest on a goal by
Paige Birschbach.
Brandi Peltier added a goal in the 18th minute thanks to an assist by
Isabella Kohl.
Kohl got into the scoring action herself in the 50th minute on assists by
Jamie Wegner and
Kaylee Tadych. Tadych also assisted on the next two goals, which were scored by
Alyssa Kennedy and Wegner. In the 68th minute, Peltier and Birschbach each scored their second goal of the game, seperated by 32 seconds.
Kyla Roberts and
Danielle Senger would cap the scoring for the Red Hawks.
Sidney Blodgett played all 90 minutes in goal for the Red Hawks, recording her 17th career shutout, which is tied for seventh in Midwest Conference history. That also marks her fourth shutout of the season.
The Red Hawks will try to keep their momentum going on Saturday against Carroll University on what will be Ripon's annual Homecoming celebration. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Prairie Field in Ripon.
