Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Ripon Shuts Out Cornell

RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon men's soccer team earned their first conference victory of the season Saturday afternoon in convincing fashion, defeating Cornell by a score of 4-0. The Red Hawks also out-shot the Rams by a 16-7 margin, including 9-2 during the second half.

Ripon (5-5-1, 1-5-0 MWC) got the scoring started in the 25th minute when Cameron Greene scored his third goal of the season on a Penalty Kick. Seven minutes later, Greene sent a corner kick to Domenic LaVitola, who headed the ball into the net for his second goal on the year.

The second half belonged to Paul Karls, who doubled Ripon's lead all by himself. Karls' first goal of the game, and seventh of the season, came in the 64th minute on an assist from Nicholas Thillman, while his second of the game came with just one second left on the clock on an assist from Brenden Raasch.

Ripon Goal Keeper Jimmy Amedeo played all 90 minutes for a complete game shutout, recording four saves. Cornell (2-11-0, 0-6-0 MWC) saw Connor Hagen and Jerome Richards combine for six saves.

The Red Hawks will be in action again on Sunday when they'll host Rockford University. That game will begin at 11 a.m. at Prairie Field in Ripon.
