Red Hawks Season Ends With Loss To Lake Forest

Lake Forest, Ill. - Ripon's women's soccer team lost to Lake Forest 2-1 in Sunday's regular season finale, eliminating the Red Hawks from postseason contention. Lake Forest also held a shot advantage of 21-8, including 13-4 in the second half.

The Foresters (10-7-1, 6-2-1 MWC) broke a scoreless tie in the 19th minute when Nina Perkkio scored her first goal of the season via Penalty Kick. Three minutes later, Perkkio scored again, on an assist from Susie Baca, to give the Foresters a 2-0 lead. Ripon (14-3-1, 5-3-1 MWC) got on the board in the 42nd minute when Paige Pierce scored her 11th goal of the season, unassisted. That would be all the scoring in the game, with both defenses tightening up in the second half and Lake Forest escaping with the victory.

Ripon Goal Keeper Miye Aoki-Kramer finished with seven saves in 90 minutes of action for the Red Hawks, whose 14 wins mark the highest win total in program history. Ripon's 68 goals this season are the second-most in program history, while their 16 goals allowed are the third-fewest. They also set a new school record with eight shutouts on the season.
