OSHKOSH, Wis. - Needing a win against Lawrence Thursday to move into a fourth-place tie and keep their Midwest Conference Team Tournament hopes very much alive, Ripon's women's tennis team lost to the Vikings by a score of 9-0.
The Red Hawks (6-8, 3-4 MWC) took two singles matches to a third set, but were outscored in doubles play by a combined score of 24-3.
Ripon's most competitive matches came at the third and fourth singles flights. At number three singles,
Samantha Kiesner lost 3-6, 6-4, 0-1 (2-10), while
Carly Wesner lost her number four match, 3-6, 6-3, 0-1 (6-10).
The loss snaps Ripon's longest winning streak of the season at three matches, and is just the team's third loss in their last nine matches.
