JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Ripon College women's tennis team turned in another dominating performance Sunday morning, defeating Illinois College 7-2 for their second consecutive victory against a Midwest Conference foe.
The Red Hawks (2-5, 2-1 MWC) won five of their six singles matches. Maddie VandenHouten won 6-4, 6-3 at the top flight, while
Morgan Makar defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-0 at the second flight.
Samantha Kiesner and
Carly Wesner won at number three and four by scores of 6-3, 7-5 and 7-5, 6-3, respectively. Madeline Salzer was also victorious, winning a barnburner at the fifth flight by a score of 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-5), 10-6.
In doubles play, Ripon won two of the three matches. Wener and Kiesner teamed up to win 8-4 at the second flight, while Salzer and Lilly Lenk won their third flight match 8-6.
Ripon will try to extend their winning streak on Saturday when they'll host Lake Forest and Beloit at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively at Larson Courts in Ripon.
