Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Red Hawks Continue Winning Ways

ASHLAND, Wis. - Ripon's women's soccer team remained undefeated Sunday, defeating Northland College 4-1 to improve their season record to 6-0, which is the best start in program history. The Red Hawks, who are currently ranked 10th in the North Region, scored twice in each half, while allowing a goal for the first time in five games.

Morgan Johnson got Ripon on the board first thanks to an assist from Kaylee Tadych in the 20th minute. Four and a half minutes later, the nation's leader in goals per game, Paige Birschbach, scored her 11th of the season off an assist from Paige Pierce.

In the opening minute of the second half, Pierce found Birschbach again for her 12th goal of the year, giving the Red Hawks a 3-0 lead. Northland would get that goal back a few minutes later when Madeleine Wieland scored on an assist from Kaiya Voldberg, snapping Ripon's consecutive scoreless minutes streak at 428 minutes. That is just the second goal Ripon has allowed in their six games this season. Pierce added an insurance goal later in the game on Tadych's second assist of the contest to put the win on ice.

Ripon out-shot Northland 25-7, including 13-2 in the first half, while also holding an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks. Ripon Goal Keeper Miye Aoki-Kramer recorded one save in her 90 minutes of action, while Northland's Megan Jordan saved nine shots in 90 minutes.

The Red Hawks will try to keep things rolling on Tuesday when they'll host Wisconsin Lutheran College. That game will begin at 4 p.m. at Prairie Field in Ripon.
