PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The Ripon women's soccer team continued their outstanding start to the 2016 season Wednesday night, defeating UW-Platteville, 2-0. That marks Ripon's third consecutive win against a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opponent.
The Red Hawks were once again led by
Paige Birschbach, who scored both goals in the game, giving her eight on the season, which is on pace to break the program's record for goals scored in a single season. She also becomes just the third player in program history to score at least 35 career goals.
Birschbach's first goal of the game came in the 41st minute on
Kaylee Tadych's sixth assist of the year. Her second and final goal came in the 79th minute on a Penalty Kick.
Ripon Freshman Goal Keeper
Miye Aoki-Kramer recorded her first career complete game shutout, making six saves. Her counterpart, Mariah Kennedy, saved three shots in the game.
The Red Hawks will try for their fourth consecutive win to start the year when they'll host Concordia-Chicago on Sunday at 4 p.m.
