RIPON, Wis. - Playing their final game of the season Saturday afternoon, Ripon's men's soccer team nearly pulled off an upset of MWC Tournament-bound Lake Forest, falling to the Foresters by a score of 2-1. The Red Hawks were out-shot by a 20-3 margin, including 13-1 in the first half.
Ripon (2-14-1, 0-8-1 MWC) opened the scoring with
Zach Carlson's first goal of the season in the 32nd minute, scoring off a free kick with the assist going to
Jose De La Cruz. Lake Forest (10-6-1, 7-2-0 MWC) evened the score at one just before halftime on Seton Trostle's eighth goal of the season.
The two teams played fairly evenly in the second half until the 64th minute when Elyas Ingram scored his sixth goal of the season on what proved to be the game-winner.
Jimmy Amedeo played all 90 minutes at Goal Keeper for the Red Hawks, making seven saves. That gives Amedeo 151 saves on the season, which sets a new school record for a player that already holds the school mark for career saves (374). Lake Forest's Tero Elias and Jan Roessler each played 45 minutes at Goal Keeper, combining to save two shots.
