RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's soccer team defeated Beloit College 1-0 Saturday afternoon in sub-40 degree temperatures. The win moves Ripon into fourth place in the conference standings for the time being, as they continue their quest for their first Midwest Conference Tournament berth since 2014.
As the teams battled the elements Saturday, which included 20 mile per hour winds, neither school managed a goal in the first half. Ripon didn't waste much time in the second half getting on the board, as
Brianna Schnell netted her ninth goal of the season in the right corner of the goal on an assist from
Abby Ryan. After that point, Ripon's defense stepped up to preserve that lead, as that was the only goal that would be needed.
Beloit out-shot the Red Hawks 18-8 in the game, including 8-0 in the first half, but Ripon Goal Keeper
Miye Aoki-Kramer recorded 11 saves in 90 minutes of work. That is her third-highest single game save total of the season, while also marking her third shutout of the year and ninth of her career, which moves her into third place in program history.
Ripon will be in action again on Wednesday when they'll travel to Saint Mary's (Minn.) for a non-conference game, before finishing their regular season conference schedule next weekend. Wednesday's game will begin at 6:30 p.m., and can be seen live atÂ
