MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - Ripon allowed a pair of first half goals Sunday afternoon, losing at Cornell by a score of 2-0. The Rams also out-shot the Red Hawks 17-8, including 13-3 in the first half.
Cornell (5-8-3, 3-2-2 MWC) broke a scoreless tie in the 32nd minute on a Facundo Benavidez's third goal of the season, thanks to an assist from Marcello Robbins. Galen Westervelt added the game's only other goal just before halftime on an assist from Justin Howe.
Kenny Smith played the entire game at Goal Keeper for the Red Hawks (1-12-1, 0-5-0 MWC), making 10 saves. Cornell's Tom Gallagher and Dylan Terrell split time in goal, combining for five saves.
Ripon will be in action again on Saturday when they'll travel to Beloit College. That game will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Beloit, Wis.
