RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's soccer team allowed three first half goals Sunday afternoon and couldn't recover, losing to Lake Forest by a score of 5-1. The Foresters also held a 15-8 shot advantage, including 7-1 in the first half.
Maria Perkkio got the scoring started for the Foresters (9-5-3, 4-2-2 MWC), scoring on a header seven minutes into the contest on a corner kick from Sanjun Hornewer. Hornewer then doubled that lead with a goal of her own four minutes later, while Alyssa Xanos added another goal on a breakaway in the 17th minute, giving Lake Forest a 3-0 lead at the half.
Ripon (3-11-2, 1-4-2 MWC) tried to climb back into the game, as
Camrie Schmitz scored on a
Brianna Schnell assist to cut the Forester lead to two in the 66th minute. Lake Forest wouldn't be denied however, as they added a pair of insurance goals later in the half to seal the victory.

Stefani Zeiger and
Charlotte Tornee combined to save six shots, while Lake Forest's Maggie Kersting played all 90 minutes, making three saves.
