RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's tennis team split a pair of conference matches Saturday, defeating Knox 6-3, before losing to Monmouth by an identical 6-3 score.
In their morning match against the Prairie Fire (1-5, 0-3 MWC), Ripon (2-3, 1-2 MWC) won five of the six singles matches, while winning one of their three doubles matches, which saw
MacKenzie Warner and
Faith Nielsen team up for an 8-5 victory at the number two flight. In singles play,
Hannah Ryback won her number one singles match 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, while Warner was victorious at the number three position, 6-1, 6-0.
Tamera Holland and
Sarah Weber also won at the number four and five spots with scores of 6-4, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-1, respectively.
Madison Rostollan also won her match at number six singles by a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Later in the day against Monmouth (2-4, 2-2 MWC), Ripon won two singles matches, while winning one doubles match, as Ryback and Holland teamed up to win 8-6 at the number one flight. In singles play, Ryback was victorious once more by a score of 6-3, 6-3. Weber also notched another singles victory at the number five flight by a score of 6-4, 6-2.
Ripon will be in action again Sunday when they'll host Illinois College at Ripon High School, beginning at Noon.
