GALESBURG, Ill. - Knox scored three goals in each half on Saturday to earn a 6-0 win over Ripon's women's soccer team. The Prairie Fire also out-shot Ripon 20-0 in the match.
Knox (7-6-1, 5-0-0 MWC) got the scoring started in the sixth minute when Emma Art scored her third goal of the season, unassisted. Michaela Thawley would double that lead with her first of the season in the 18th minute, before Lydia Mitchell knocked in her 11th goal of the year in the 24th minute.
After taking a 3-0 lead into halftime, Knox scored a pair of goals in the first four minutes of the second half, with Brianna Dietz and Sarah McCracken doing the honors. Ainara Rivera would also score a goal, with Dietz recording an assist on the play.
Ripon's
Maddy Spranger and
Lucie Hodgkins each played time at Goal Keeper for the Red Hawks, combining for nine saves.
Ripon will try to get on track next weekend when they'll travel to Grinnell College on Saturday. That game will begin at 11 a.m. in Grinnell, Iowa.
