RIPON, Wis. - Just one week after losing to Lake Forest 6-0, Ripon held a second-half lead against the Foresters, before ultimately ending the game tied at four after the mandatory two 10-minute overtime periods.
Lake Forest (3-0-1) wasted no time getting on the board, as Iman Shepard gave the Foresters a 1-0 lead with a goal in the fifth minute. Julia Larson added to LFC's lead with a goal in the 23rd minute. Ripon would cut that lead in half just before halftime when
Brianna Schnell found the back of the net on a free kick just over the Goal Keeper's outstretched arms.
The Red Hawks tied things up in the second half when
Camrie Schmitz scored on an assist from
Maggie Bouque in the 49th minute. Schmitz would score again on a Penalty Kick in the 72nd minute to give Ripon the lead. She would complete the hat trick just minutes later when Schmitz took a pass from Schnell to score her third goal of the game and sixth of the season. Playing her final game in a Ripon uniform, Schmitz finishes her career with 31 goals, which ranks seventh in program history, despite playing just 40 games.
After that Ripon rally, Lake Forest had a rally of their own, cutting Ripon's lead to one on a Raven Dziedzinski goal in the 77th minute. Two minutes later, the score was tied when Julia Larson connected on her second goal of the contest.
Ripon Goal Keeper
Stefani Zeiger played all 110 minutes in the game, making 22 saves, which is the second-most in a single game in program history. She finishes her career with 222 saves, which ranks sixth in program history. Her counterpart Aarti Singh also played the entire game, making 12 saves for the Foresters.
