Wilke’s Strong Effort Not Enough As Women's Soccer Falls To Rams

MOUNT VERNON, IOWA – The Ripon women's soccer team was tripped up on Saturday, falling 3-0 on the road against Cornell College in Midwest Conference play. Kina Hopkins got off four shots on the afternoon, including Ripon's only two on frame, while Cornell managed to put half of their 28 shots on target.

Sophomore goalkeeper Andreanna Wilke recorded 11 saves for the Red Hawks, and she has now done tallied 10 or more in five straight contests. Her 11.5 saves per game ranks her at the top of the conference leaderboard, and she currently sits more than 3.0 full saves per game ahead of second place.

Sam O'Brien got the Rams on the board at the 33:36 mark, helping Cornell carry a 1-0 lead into the intermission at the break. She later connected with Elise Hermiston to make it a 2-0 Cornell advantage, and Wies Kleingeld came away with the final score with two and a half minutes left in the match.

The Red Hawks are back in action on Tuesday, when they look to bounce back with a home match against Maranatha Baptist. Opening whistle is slated for 4:00 p.m. from Prairie Field.
