RIPON, Wis. – The Ripon College women's soccer team lost a 4-0 decision to Lawrence Wednesday afternoon in a league match.
The Red Hawks are now 3-9-2 overall and 1-4 in MWC play. The Vikings improve to 7-5 on the year and 3-1 against conference competition.
Cielo Gutierrez's shot in the seventh minute was turned away by the keeper. Ripon's defense was up to the task defensively as
Andreanna Wilke was outstanding in the first half, turning away shot after shot.
Kaley Kowal took three shots in the opening stanza, including two on frame that were stopped by the keeper.
After a scoreless first period, Lawrence managed to score a goal at the 52:20 mark and followed it up with another tally four minutes later.
The Vikings registered a goal in the 63
rd minute and the fourth score at the 78:01 mark for the final mark.
Gutierrez attempted the team's lone shot in the final 45 minutes of work, but her shot on goal was saved in the 86
th minute of action.
For the match, Wilke played all 90 minutes in goal and stopped 19 shots.
Ripon totaled six shots in the match, but only one was on goal.
The Red Hawks return to action Saturday, Oct. 15, against Knox College at 1:30 p.m. The match is also Senior Day. Live stats and video will be available at RiponRedhawks.com.
