JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Ripon College women's tennis team was edged out on the road this afternoon against Illinois College 5-4 in its second Midwest Conference match of the day.
In doubles, Illinois (2-8, 1-2 MWC) took an early 2-0 lead with wins at first and third doubles. The Red Hawks were able to cut the lead in half with an 8-5 win at second doubles.
Ripon's
Chase Polyak tied the match at two with her 6-0, 6-1 win at fourth singles. The Lady Blues reclaimed the lead with wins at both first and third singles to make it, 4-2. Ripon (3-8, 1-3 MWC) pulled within one to make it 4-3 when
Allison Larsen earned the 6-3, 3-0 win at second singles. Illinois sealed the victory with a 7-5, 6-3 win at sixth singles.
The Red Hawks are back on the road next Saturday, October 1 at 11 A.M. when they face Midwest Conference rival Lawrence University.
