GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Ripon College women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season with a 5-4 victory over host St. Norbert College. With the win, the Red Hawks improved to 1-2 on the season while Green Knights fall to 0-1.
The Red Hawks took an early 2-1 lead when
Tia Endrizzi and
Chase Polyak claimed second doubles with an 8-4 victory and teammates
Tamera Holland and
Allison Pavlovec earned an 8-2 win at third doubles.
St. Norbert tied the match up after claiming first singles to make it, 2-2. Pavlovec broke the tie when she won sixth singles (6-0, 6-1) to put the Red Hawks back in front, 3-2.
Ripon's Polyak earned the win at fourth singles (6-4, 4-6, 10-7) while teammate
Hadley Berendsen earned the deciding point at fifth singles (6-3, 6-3) to give the Red Hawks the match.
The Green Knights also earned wins in second and third singles.
Ripon is back in action on Tuesday, September 6 at 5 pm to kick off the home season when it hosts Lakeland University.
