RIPON, Wisconsin – On a seasonably cool and cloudy Saturday, the Ripon women's soccer program dropped a 3-0 decision to Monmouth at Hopp Stadium on the program's Senior Day.
Each team had golden opportunities to score in the first 45 minutes. After a frantic race to the ball in the Monmouth (5-7-3, 3-3-1 MWC) defensive zone,
Alyssa Klementzos had a near-empty net, but her shot sailed high to keep the match scoreless.
Monmouth also had a prime chance to score, as the Scots chipped a shot past Ripon (6-5-3, 1-4-1 MWC) defenders, but
Andreanna Wilke – currently fourth in the country in save percentage – deflected the shot high to preserve the clean sheet.
However, in the 37th minute, the Scots finally got on the board. Danielle Beach sent a shot high past Wilke for her eighth goal of the season, giving Monmouth a 1-0 lead just before half.
Just two minutes into the second half, Madison Walker netted her ninth goal of the season for Monmouth as the Scots doubled their lead.
Monmouth would continue to keep the pressure on in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Beach took a pass from Allison Griffin to score for the second time in the match and wrap up the scoring.
Monmouth had a 16-14 advantage in overall shots and outshot Ripon 9-6 in shots on goal.
Jessi Griepentrog led Ripon with 4 shots, while
Kaley Kowal and
Rebecca Roszel each had 3.
Wilke made 6 saves for the Red Hawks.
