RIPON, Wisconsin – Eli Dietzel found the back of the net with 25 minutes remaining to help the Ripon men's soccer program earn a hard-fought tie in its season opener against Wisconsin Lutheran on Friday afternoon at Prairie Field.
Dietzel was assisted by
Jacob Oppeneer and answered the WLC (0-0-1) goal which happened just nine minutes before. Oppeneer was near the end line on the right side of the goal when he made a perfect pass to Dietzel in the middle of the field, who then scored while being surrounded by five Warrior defenders.
Goalie
Sam Jahnke made seven saves for the Red Hawks.
Wisconsin Lutheran had a heavy advantage in shots over Ripon (0-0-1), piling up 10 overall and eight on goal compared to the Red Hawk's two total shots. Dietzel's goal was the only shot on goal for Ripon.
Kaleb Schroeder added the other shot attempt.
