Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Red Hawks Fend Off Lakeland

PLYMOUTH, Wisconsin – The Ripon men's soccer program scored the first two goals of the match and held on late for a 3-1 non-conference victory at Lakeland on Tuesday afternoon at Taylor Field.

In the 19th minute, Ripon (10-5) struck first. Roman Harris sent the ball towards the goal, and after a pair of Lakeland (4-11) defenders collided, Seth Schroeder was in the right place at the right time for the easy tap-in goal, his 12th of the season. The freshman is now tied for fifth in school history for single-season goals.

The Red Hawks went into the break leading 1-0 as each team managed just three shots in the first 45 minutes. Lakeland had the only corner kick of the stanza.

The other half of Ripon's 1-2 punch found the back of the net in the 49th minute. Schroeder found Andre Robertson, and the junior buried his 11th goal of the season to double Ripon's lead. He now stands tied for seventh in single-season goals at Ripon, and moves into seventh place by himself in the Ripon record books for career goals scored (20).

The Muskies cut their deficit in half in the 53rd minute as Porter Gigstead scored, unassisted, for his third of the season. However, Ripon got the goal right back in the 77th minute. Eli Dietzel sent the ball to Nick Bellisle, who rifled it home from the middle of the pitch for his second score of the campaign to pad the Red Hawk advantage.

From there, the Red Hawks kept Lakeland at bay to earn a hard-fought victory against another NACC opponent – its third victory over the neighboring conference in 2024.

Each team had 10 total shots, while Ripon had a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. Robertson had a game-high three shots, while Schroeder and Finley Manning tallied two shots each.

Christian Hernandez played all 90 minutes in goal, making two saves.

UP NEXT: Ripon takes on Cornell this Saturday (October 19). Kickoff from Mount Vernon, Iowa is set for 11 a.m.
