Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Early Barrage Lifts Grinnell Past Men's Soccer

RIPON, Wisconsin – Three goals in the first eight minutes of action by Grinnell handed Ripon men's soccer a 3-1 loss on Saturday afternoon at Hopp Stadium.

Grinnell (3-3-5, 1-0-2 MWC) scored on each of its first three shots in the early moments – the Pioneers tallied goals in the third, fifth and eighth minutes – putting Ripon (8-4, 0-3 MWC) in an early hole that it would not be able to fully climb out of.

The Red Hawks had chances in the first half, but were outshot 11-3 overall, and 9-2 on goal, in the first 45 minutes of play.

Ripon controlled the pace and match in the second half, and the Red Hawks finally broke through in the 81st minute as Seth Schroeder put a bouncing ball past the goalkeeper for his 10th goal of the season. However, Grinnell polished off the final nine minutes to win in Ripon for the first time since 2018.

As a team, Grinnell had a 14-10 advantage in total shots, and 10 shots on goal to Ripon's five.

Schroeder and Connor Handrick each had two shots to lead Ripon offensively, while Drew Seyfer made seven saves in goal playing all 90 minutes.
