RIPON, Wisconsin – The Ripon women's soccer program wrapped up its 2024 season Saturday, defeating Knox 1-0 on Senior Day at Hopp Stadium.
In a defense-heavy first half, there were just 11 shots total – seven by Ripon (5-11-3, 1-6-1 MWC) and four by Knox (1-13-3, 0-6-2 MWC) as the teams went into the break deadlocked at zero.
In the 52nd minute,
Rebecca Roszel was fouled in the box and
Alyssa Klementzos took the penalty shot. After the first shot was snuffed out, Klementzos got a do-over and made the most of it, putting Ripon in front 1-0 with her fifth goal of the season – and third on a penalty kick.
From there, the Ripon defense held up, primarily playing the game in the Red Hawks' offensive zone. Knox did have a pair of close calls in the last 10 minutes, but the Red Hawks kept the Prairie Fire out of goal for their fifth shutout of 2024.
Ripon had an 11-10 advantage in total shots, but Knox had a 7-5 edge in shots on goal. Klementzos led Ripon with four shots, and
Alexis Piette had three while
Sarah Klopp had two.
Playing all 90 minutes in goal in her final match as a Red Hawk,
Andreanna Wilke made seven saves.
