Schroeder Nets Hat Trick as Red Hawks Tie Knox

RIPON, Wis. -- Ripon College men's soccer (7-4-2, 1-2-1 MWC) finished in a 3-3 tie this Saturday, Oct 11, against the Knox College Prairie Fire (6-3-4, 2-2-1 MWC). Forward Seth Schroeder (Iron Ridge, Wis., Winnebago Lutheran Academy) would score all three of Ripon's goals, tying for third place on Ripon's all time single game goal leaderboard.

The conference match up would be marked by frenetic changes in momentum, especially across the first half. Schroeder would score his first in the 19th minute, converting a pass from Ian Martinez (Chicago, Ill., Notre Dame College Prep) to give the Red Hawks a 1-0 lead. Wasting no time in extending the lead, Schroeder would score again just four minutes later, hitting the back of the net off a Finley Manning (St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada, Holy Heart of Mary HS) assist.

The game's pace would turn on the Red Hawks after their second goal, with Knox scoring three times in 17 minutes to take a 3-2 lead into halftime. Refocusing out of the break, Ripon would level the score, with Schroeder's third of the day coming from a set up by Andre Robertson (O'Fallon, Ill., O'Fallon Township HS) in the 64th minute. Despite a final Ripon shot on goal by Manning, the Knox defense while hold strong, while the Ripon defense would limit the Prairie Fire to zero shots on goal in the second half, with all three Knox attempts sailing off target. The final horn would blow on a 3-3 tie, both programs' first tie of conference competition.

The Red Hawks return to action against Lake Forest on Wednesday, Oct 15. The Foresters enter the game with an undefeated 12-0 record at the time of writing, coming off a 2-1 win over Lawrence.
