NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Both the Ripon cross country teams were named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team list, as announced today, Jan 29. In addition, sophomore
Joley Berger (Dunbar, Wis., Pembine HS) was named an All-Academic Athlete by the USTFCCCA for her academic and regional meet accomplishments.
To qualify as an USTFCCCA All-Academic team, programs must sustain a 3.1 GPA on 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, along with other qualifiers. Ripon's men's program sustained a 3.5 GPA, while the women carry a 3.32.
For Berger's qualification, All-Academic athletes must hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3, and finish in the top-25 percent of their regional championship meet. Berger's 11th place, 22:15.1 finish at the North Region Championships in November put her in the top 5% of regional runners. A finance major, Berger also set the women's 6k school record this season.
