JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The Ripon College women's soccer team earned a 1-0 shutout victory over Illinois College Saturday afternoon at England Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, the Red Hawks broke through in the 55th minute. Senior Alyssa Klementzos (Salem, Wis., Westosha Central HS) found the back of the net at 54:25, with senior Rebecca Roszel (Fremont, Calif., Irvington HS) providing the assist to give Ripon a 1-0 lead.
Klementzos led the Red Hawks offensively with five shots, including two on goal, while sophomore Lizzy Schmitz (Sheboygan, Wis., Sheboygan Lutheran HS) recorded two shots on frame. Ripon finished the contest with eight total shots, putting four on goal.
Defensively, sophomore Kaitlan Adkins (Milwaukee, Wis., Brown Deer HS) recorded a clean sheet in goal, making three saves across 90 minutes. The Red Hawks held Illinois College scoreless despite the hosts finishing with 13 shots.
Ripon improves to 4-6-1 overall and 1-2-1 in Midwest Conference play with the victory.
The Red Hawks return home Wednesday, Oct 7, hosting Cornell College at 7:30pm.
