OSHKOSH, Wis. -- Ripon cross country took part in a rainy Oshkosh Classic today, September 18, competing in five-team fields.
The women opened the day amid rolling showers, competing against DII opponent Michigan Tech alongside DIII opposition UW-Oshkosh, Lawrence, and UW-Stout. JuniorÂ
Joley Berger (Dunbar, Wis., Pembine HS) continued her strong performance streaking, crossing the 6k finish in 21:42.9, second only to the top Division II participant. FreshmanÂ
Addy Baird (Ripon, Wis., Ripon HS) was next along for the Red Hawks, finishing 12th with a 23:15.1, while seniorÂ
Gabby Allard (Appleton, Wis., Kimberly HS) rounded out Ripon's top three with a 23:23.1 in 19th place. Also scoring for the Red Hawks wereÂ
Ximena Juarez Martinez (Addison, Ill., Addison Trail HS) (23:50.1, 25th place),Â
Leah Page (Ripon, Wis., Ripon HS) (24:00.4, 28th place) andÂ
Mya Garcia (Chino Hills, Calif., Brea Olinda HS) (24:01.3, 30th place). The scores placed Ripon in third as a team, behind Michigan Tech and UW-Oshkosh.Â
On the men's side, juniorÂ
Dylan Malmgren (Love Park, Ill., Harlem HS) would be first across for Ripon, taking 6th place overall with a 26:01.2 8k time. SophomoreÂ
Nathan Johnson (Neenah, Wis., Neenah HS) was next, taking 30th place overall with a 26:49.3 time. SophomoreÂ
Michael Corral Rascon (Aurora, Colo., Vista Peak Prep) rounded out the Red Hawks' top three, securing a 41st place finish with a 27:10.3. Ripon finished fifth in the strong field, with Michigan Tech taking first overall.Â
Red Hawks Cross Country returns to action in two weeks, participating in Carleton's Pre-National Invite on October 3. The extremely competitive meet takes place in Northfield, Minnesota, where both the NCAA North Regional and the NCAA DIII Nationals will be taking place later this season.Â
