Andy Sotter has been selected as the first-ever Director of Esports at Ripon College on June 5, 2024. The Ripon College esports program has been led by Coach Sotter since its inception, and is in their second year of competition.
Ripon's Super Smash Bros Ultimate team, led by sophomore Ethan Arts, who earned a #8 state power ranking in the title, won the Northeast Regional title without dropping a set, finishing their season in the State Final in just their first year of competition.
Coach Sotter continues to search for players across the Midwest that want to compete at a high level. "Competing against schools twenty times larger than us and pulling together a string of victories is exhilarating, and is what makes the landscape of esports so unique."
The Wisconsin Esports Conference hosts all varsity esports programs across Wisconsin, where Ripon will face off against UW-Madison, UW-Green Bay, Lawrence and many other programs across the state. Coach resides with his family in Green Lake County, and enjoys spending time with his wife and son working in the yard, boating, and hosting impromptu get togethers with friends and family.
