One of the most decorated track and field athletes in program history in staying home, as Vice President and Director of Athletics
Chris Schumacher announced the hire of
Ben Fisher as Ripon's next assistant track and field coach on June 4, 2025.
Schumacher stated: "We're thrilled to announce Ben's new role on our coaching staff. As a former Ripon College student-athlete and most recently a graduate assistant, Ben has grown tremendously within our program. His work ethic, leadership and ability to connect with student-athletes have consistently stood out."
"Ben has been an integral part of our team, and this next step is a natural progression for someone of his talent and commitment. We're excited to see the impact he'll continue to make in this new capacity."
Fisher, a Waupun, Wisconsin native, spearheaded the most successful run in Ripon men's track and field history. He was a part of three consecutive indoor and outdoor Midwest Conference titles as the Red Hawks finished inside the top-12 nationally twice (#8 in the 2023 indoor season and #11 in the 2023 outdoor season).
"I am extremely grateful to Coach Schumacher and Coach Wood for the opportunity to coach track and field at Ripon College," Fisher said. "The program is currently in its most successful run in school history, and I am excited to make a contribution now in the role of a coach. The elite facilities, administrative support and tight-knit campus community all make Ripon a great destination for a coach and for student-athletes. As an alum, I am ecstatic to now begin my professional career in Ripon as well. Go Red Hawks!"
Individually, few have more accolades at Ripon than Fisher. He holds both the indoor and outdoor school records in the high jump, and also was a member of the 2022 outdoor 4x200 relay squad that holds the top mark in the program. Fisher is a five-time NCAA Championships qualifier in the high jump, earning first team All-American honors in the 2023 indoor and outdoor seasons with a pair of sixth-place finishes.
Fisher was also named All-Region by the USTFCCCA in the 2024-25 school year and the 2022-23 school year, and has claimed Midwest Conference titles in the high jump in each of the last two school years.
