Box Score
RIPON, Wis. - Ripon recorded its highest field goal percentage of the season (.563), while allowing the lowest field goal percentage to an opponent all season (.231) in a 100-54 victory over Knox College Saturday afternoon. That snaps Ripon's six-game losing streak and pulls them within one and a half games of fourth place in the Midwest Conference standings.
The Red Hawks (4-9, 3-5 MWC) fell behind in the game's opening minute before scoring 10 unanswered points to take an early command of the game. Knox (4-8, 2-5 MWC) would pull to within five with just under 12 minutes left in the half, but that would be as close as they would get the rest of the day. Ripon closed the half on a 30-7 run to take a 48-20 lead into halftime, as they held Knox to just 17 percent (6-35) shooting in the period.
Picking up right where they left off, the Red Hawks began the second half on a 24-12 run to take a 42-point lead with 13 and a half minutes remaining. Ripon's largest lead of the game came with two and a half minutes to play when a Morgan Johnson jumper gave them a 51-point lead, while also reaching the 100-point plateau for the second time in the last two seasons, both of which came against Knox College.
Ripon was led by 22 points and 11 rebounds from Erin Lind, marking her 17th career double-double and eighth of the season. Jill Van Eperen also recorded a double-double (the fifth of her career) with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while also recording a game-high seven assists. Kelly Van Berkel and Kacie Cullen each added 13 points, while Chelsea Moldenhauer posted career highs for both points (9) and rebounds (8). Ripon outscored Knox in the paint, 66-18, while also outrebounding the Prairie Fire, 66-28. Those 66 rebounds are just nine shy of Ripon's single game record, which was set during the 1980-81 season.
Knox was led by 12 points from Jodi Marver, while Jessica Howard added 10 points, which included a pair of 3-pointers. The Prairie Fire made just 14 percent (5-35) of their 3-point attempts in the contest.
The Red Hawks will now try to build on this victory, as they'll host St. Norbert College on Wednesday at 5 p.m. That game will be played at Storzer Center in Ripon and can be seen live on
