Matt Lange's Two Goals Propel Ripon To Victory

Box Score

RIPON, Wis. -
The Ripon men's soccer team stayed very much in the thick of the Midwest Conference standings Saturday afternoon, defeating Cornell College 2-0 behind a pair of goals by Matthew Lange. That marks the Red Hawks' first shutout of the season, as they have now allowed just seven goals in their last five games combined.

Lange's first goal of the day came unassisted in the 41st minute. He added his second goal of the day and third of the season in the 58th minute on a shot from about 30 yards away thanks to an assist from Kyle Furey.

Goal Keeper Cody Messerschmidt played all 90 minutes between the posts for the Red Hawks, making two saves. Cornell saw Connor Hagen and Kyle Jordan split time in goal, saving three shots apiece.

The Red Hawks will be in action again on Sunday in a non-conference battle at UW-Whitewater. That game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. in Whitewater, Wis.
