RIPON, Wis. - For the sixth time this season, the Ripon College women's soccer team did not allow a goal in a game. They shutout Cardinal Stritch University on Sunday by a score of 2-0 thanks to 11 saves by Goal Keeper
Sidney Blodgett. The win clinches Ripon's second consecutive winning season after snapping a streak of 16 consecutive losing campaigns with a 10-win season a year ago.
Ripon (9-6-1) came up big when it mattered, as they won despite being outshot 17-7, with two of their five shots on goal finding their way into the net. Neither team could muster much offense for the majority of the game until the 85th minute when
Jamie Wegner scored her first goal of the season on a header thanks to a corner kick assist by
Kaylee Tadych to give Ripon a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later,
Brandi Peltier gave the Red Hawks some insurance with her team-leading 19th goal of the season.
The Red Hawks will resume conference play on Thursday, as they'll try to put a scare into conference-leading St. Norbert College on Halloween. That game will begin at 3 p.m. at Prairie Field and can be seen live on
