Red Hawks Suffer First Conference Loss of the Season

Playing their third Midwest Conference match of the season, the Ripon volleyball team finall lost a set in conference play. The Red Hawks suffered their first MWC loss of the season Tuesday night, losing to Lawrence in three sets (22-25, 13-25, 22-25). Ripon's only lead of the match came during the first set, which featured 14 ties and seven lead changes.

The Red Hawks (10-12, 2-1 MWC) were led by Allison Barnes, who finished with 10 kills and a .421 hitting percentage. Barnes also recorded three block assists, while Emily Gary posted a team-high four block assits, to go along with eight kills. Abbi Williamson led the Red Hawks with 26 assists, while Brianne Milroy paced the team with 12 digs.

Lawrence (7-13, 2-2 MWC) received a 14-kill effort from Terese Swords, while also getting 11 kills and nine digs from Kayla Storm. Diane McLeod led the Vikings with 39 assists, while Kathleen Rowland topped the team with 13 digs.

Ripon will try to get back in the win column on Friday when they'll host Carroll University in their annual "Play For The Cure" match, which will begin at 7 p.m. That match will be played in Storzer Center's Wyman Gymnasium and can be seen live on http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/ripon.portal#.
