BELOIT, Wis. - The Ripon College volleyball team won its regular season finale Friday night, defeating Beloit College, 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 25-15). That gives the Red Hawks (15-14, 7-3 MWC) their most wins in a single season and their highest conference win total in nine years. Ripon's 15 victories this season is as many as the past two seasons combined, while their seven conference wins are more than the last two years combined.
Against Beloit, the Red Hawks recorded at least 13 kills in each set, except the first. Their most dominating set came in the third frame when the team recorded a hitting percentage of .467, thanks to a match-high 17 kills in that set. Ripon was led by
Emily Gary's 15 kills, while
Karlye Wehner and
Abbi Williamson each recorded eight. Williamson added team-highs of 37 assists and 22 digs.
Wylie Gahart also chipped in with a team-high two service aces.
Beloit (6-16, 1-8 MWC) was led by Taylor Lewis' 12 kills. Bethany Stavrakas added 11 kills, while Carolyn Stransky added 36 assists.
The Red Hawks will now prepare for next weekend's Midwest Conference Tournament in Mount Vernon, Iowa, where they are the fourth seed, marking their first appearance at the Tournament in four years. Ripon's semi-final game will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 8 against the host school and number one seed #22 Cornell College. The winner of that match will play the winner of the St. Norbert-Carroll match in the MWC Championship game on November 9 at 4 p.m.
