Red Hawks Continue Winning Ways

RIPON, Wis. -
The Ripon College volleyball team extended their season-long winning streak to five matches Wednesday night with wins over Wisconsin Lutheran and MSOE. Against Wisconsin Lutheran, the Red Hawks extended their streak of consecutive sets won to 12 with a three-set victory. That streak was stopped at 14 against MSOE, but Ripon still defeated the Raiders in four sets. Ripon's current five match winning streak is the program's longest such streak since winning six straight during the 2007 season.

All three sets against Wisconsin Lutheran (3-5) were very close, with Ripon (7-4) winning 25-19, 25-23, 26-24. Ripon was led by Karlye Wehner, Emily Gary and Allison Barnes, whom each finished with nine kills. Kelli Walsh added a team-high four blocks (two solo), while Abbi Williamson led the team with 34 assists and Brianne Milroy's 18 digs also led the team.

In the second match of the day against MSOE (3-6), Ripon won the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-20, before losing the third 23-25. They would rebound however to wrap up the match in four sets with a 25-19 victory, giving wins in 15 of their last 16 sets. Wehner led all players with 14 kills in the match, while Gary and Barnes recorded 11 and 10, respectively. Wehner also tied for the team lead with Wylie Gahart for service aces with two. Walsh again led the team with four more blocks (two solo), while Milroy led the team with 25 digs. Williamson added another 33 assists to lead the Red Hawks, while Maddie Koster was second on the team with 11 assists in two sets played.

The Red Hawks will try to extend their winning streak this weekend when they'll take part in the UW-Oshkosh Invitational. The first games of the two day event will take place on Friday with Ripon taking on UW-Stevens Point and Wartburg at 3:30 and 5:30, respectively, in Oshkosh, Wis.
